In Memoriam

I had a dream about you last night. It was so real I felt like you were really here. You looked a bit older. But you still had rosey cheeks.

I had heard some time back that Roger had passed, but seeing it in print has made it real. The Hilles lived across the street from us and he was always so full of life. We had a blast as Tennis Hotesses for him on the team.He and my brother Tom had alot of good times together. My thoughts and prayers to Juanita and the rest of the Hille family.

My condolences to the Hille family! I was friends with Teresa in elementary school, it was always fun to sneek a peek at her older brother as we all thought he was such a "fox" in those days. He was always very nice to us giggling girls. Hope you are well Teresa, so sorry of your loss. Contact me on facebook if you can. Love, Diana

I played tennis with Roger, we were on the same team when we played doubles. He was a great tennis player. Me...not so good. I knew it made him mad when I`d miss the ball, but he was just the sweetest guy. I hate seeing his name here.

Thank you for printing my uncensored comments about Roger. It was nice to read Jackie's thoughts too. I remember her as being very pretty, sweet, totally devoted to Roger and visa versa and Roger's true ásoul mateá! He always spoke of his love for her. He loved you very much, Jackie. I would so enjoy hearing from her and Zeke again, before I move to Hawaii. Here is my phone # if they would like to ever contact me: 714 948-0835. I still see Monte Newman. He lives in Desert Hot Springs. May God bless you, Jackie and Zeke! ;-) Bob Lyon

Roger was my first love. I think of him almost everyday. He was the love of my life and my best friend. I remember Bob Lyons! We had some good times, however who is Linda???? When Roger died it devastated my entire family as my brother Zeke was Rogers best friend and also involved in the car accident they were in. I think of the Hille family all the time. I have been sober in AA for almost 12 years now. Life is good, and what an honor it was to have been Roger's girlfriend. I will always remember him. What a wonderful, funny, goodlooking guy he was. Much love to the Hille family. Jackie Edmondson

I had the honor of meeting Roger in 1975. He knew a very pretty girl that I ended up dating in the summer of 1976. Her name was Marsha LaFever. Class of 1976. I fell COMPLETELY in love with her!! She was so sweet and beautiful! Roger was always the life of the party. Roger, Zeke,Monte Newman, Duane G.,a.k.a. Egor, and myself used to get into my custom 1964 Chevy Van, go to parties and try and find beautiful girls. With my feelings for Marsha, I could not do that. But, let's just say that the other 4 were very successful in the ápick upá department, ha!ha! Later, in the summer of 1978, Roger became my roomate. Parties and Blue Oyster Cult concerts were happening! He was so funny and yet had that álittle boyá shyness to him that all of the ladies liked about him. He loved his girlfriend very much. I think her name was Jackie. They fought and did the breakup/makeup routine so much that it became comical! What a pair. I liked Roger so much that I even forgave him for áscoringá on a 2 yea

His memory carried down for years. I know we were still talkning about Roger Helle in 1981. He was missed, especially by Coach Smith. He talk of that kid alot. He clearly was sad. Did anyone recongnize that? His death was very traumatic to the community in a whole.

I was so upset about Roger's death that I kept having dreams/nightmares about seeing him at the gas station that use to be on Bolsa & Bushard next to the Tic Toc. He was there with that cool old truck that he and Mike use to share. Every time in the dream I would try to go to him and then I would wake up feeling scared. I had these dreams over and over again. Then one night I had this same dream again and I got to talk to him and he said, áYou don't have to worry about me anymore. I am OK here.á After that I never had the dream again.

Roger lived a couple houses down from me, we went to elementary school, then Junior High together. We went steady in 7th grade. He was so cute. I'll always remember him in my heart. He was the kindest person. Love ya forever.

Roger was a shy, sweet boy. He was always picked on by the upper class because of his size, but he never let it get the best of him. I was sorry to hear of his death. He always had a nice cute smile. He is missed.
