In Memoriam

I can`t believe it`s been 8+ years since Norm passed away. I didn`t know Norm during high school. He was class of `77 and I was suppose to be `79 but graduated in `78. In 1992 I was sitting at my desk at Northrop next to Norm and we were talking about High School. When I told him I went to LaQuinta he laughed and said no way! Turns out we were both there at the same time and lived in the same neighborhood. After that we became close friends at work. His laugh got me in more trouble during meetings! When I was laid off in `95, Norm was the one to put in a good word at Boeing in HB for me! I miss working with him and most of all I miss his friendship. I hope that Laurie and their boys are doing well. He felt so blessed when the boys joined their life. We all miss you!

It's Christmas eve; already six years since Norm passed. I grew up six houses down the street from Norm. He spent alot of time at my house when we were kids; playing tetherball, basketball, and climbing the tree in my backyard. He loved pickled eggs that my mom would make in the summer, and never missed an opportunity to ask me if mom might let us have one. Did any of you know he played the accordian? I attended a concert with his family when he did. Mom always remembers Norm as the nicest boy out of all the neighborhood back then. She is right; Norm was always the nicest guy around. He was a good friend; and it was a true priveledge to have known him.

I knew Norm from his days at Northrop/Grumman. We played basketball together. I did visit him a few weeks prior to Dec24, 2001, bringing him a video of one of our basketball games. He was, as always, still Norm, calm and collected. Norm will be greatly missed by myself and many. The world needs a few more like Norm. My prayers go out to his wife Lorrie and his two sons, Joshua and Shane, whom he spoke of often.

Lost my best friend 2 years ago. We worked 6 different jobs together including the movie theatres where we let most of the rest of LQHS in for free on any given night. His last career move was to Boeing Reusable Space Systems in Palmdale where we worked on the Space Shuttle Modification and Commercial support programs together. He never lost his sense of humor even in the last days. He was a great father (proud to a fault) and husband. He will continue to be missed by all that knew him. His presence is felt daily as I see the ski slopes at Wrightwood on my drive to Edwards AFB from Lancaster. What a shock and a terrible loss for Norman's family. I considered Norman one of my best friends from the time we were at Post, Irvine Jr. High and through La Quinta. I ran into Norman a couple times after high school when he was working for Golden West Airlines. I was looking forward to an opportunity to see him again. He'll be missed.

I sat in a state of numbness when I received the news. Norman was my childhood boyfriend all through Post Elementary School. We got caught holding hands at our desks and were both so shy and embarrassed. My deepest sympathy to his wife, Laurie and his family and many friends. What a great loss!

My prayers go out to the Jordan family. I new the Jordan's from the time I was in grade school. We lived in the same neighborhood. My brother Robert(77) has very fond memories of his days playing basketball with Norman and sends his condolences as well. May God be with his family today and always. The Ramos & Preston Families.
