In Memoriam

Doug had the very best and brightest smile ever. I went to school with him k-12! I saw him at the 20th reunion and had a great visit. What a huge loss. My profound sympathies to his fine family. His goodness and joy will always serve as role models.

I lived on the same street as Doug. I would come out of my house and see him shooting hoops in the Driveway. he was always a great guy to be around. Popular, athletic, just a fun guy. I can remember one time that he stuck up for me on our block, when no one else would, that made him my big brother. Doug, you are an inspiration to us all, I`ll miss you. Joey

I played rugby with Doug in '86 and '87. Doug was a tremendous athelete and his brightness shone on and off the field. I was saddened to learn of his passing the the UCI Alumni letter. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

I have known Doug since I was in the second grade. His sister Kristi and I were grew up together. Doug was always like a big brother to me. He always made me laugh, when I came over to his house. He was truly a great friend to know. My thoughts and prayers are with his parents and Kristi and Randy. He will truly be missed. Renee

I was fortunate to be able to spend time with Doug (“DUG” on video game high score lists way back when) at the reunion last fall, and our paths crossed many times in the years following high school. I spent all four years of HS basketball (including summers) playing with Doug. He was the guy that every team needed, great sense of humor and ready with a joke to break everyone up when things were too serious or dull. Doug was a reliable friend who was always positive and honest. Memories of Doug come to me with the image of his smile and his big hearty laugh. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and many friends.

What a shock, we will miss Doug tremendously. He was so well liked by everyone. I guess we really must enjoy each and every day that we have. My prayers go out to Doug's family.

I was shocked to hear of Doug's passing. I thought a person like Doug, with his zest for life would be with us for many, many more years. Though I had not spoke to Doug for far too long when I heard what happened it did not take me long to go back and remember all the great times we had over the years. From our times playing basketball to working together at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater and the Tree Lot it was always a good time when Doug was there. He would do anything for you and expected nothing in return. It is in times like these that you realize our time here is much too short and that we should all live life to the fullest, and in Doug's case that is exactly what he did. Doug will be missed greatly.
