Our Mom worked at La Quinta as a Campus Aid from 1970 (I was a Senior and my sister Diane was a Freshman) to 2000. She was also known as "The Fuzz" (because she "busted" kids smoking in the rest rooms) and "Mom" (because she was someone`s mother). My Dad said it was like going places with a "celebrity" because whenever they went out they`d see kids from La Quinta that said "Hi Mom"! She loved working at La Quinta (especially Jay Blackman-Class Clown of 1970), she loved breaking up fights, "patrolling" the rest rooms, "patrolling" the parking lot, helping in the Library - she enjoyed her 30 years at La Quinta. Hope you remember her - we miss her!

  In Memoriam

Joan was, in a word, a sweetheart of a person. Even though she was the "fuzz," she always had tremendous compassion for the students at L.Q.. The kids loved her. She is one of the most courageous people I have ever known. When facing her cancer, she kept her usual smile and positive attitude towards life. It was a gift to me knowing her. I wish the best to her family and will never forget her.

I was so sorry to hear of her passing. My mother works there in the cafeteria and Im from the class of 88 and remember her fondly. My mother told me when she was diagnosed with cancer. I know for a fact her presence is missed there at LQ.
