  In Memoriam

After so many years I find this site only to find this out. She was my very first kinda-sorta girlfriend. I lived a block away and we first met at Post. She had a pool in the backyard and we would hang out in it in the summer with her sister Cindy and the occasional other friends. Experienced my first kiss with her in that pool. She was so nice to be with. Very bubbly and outgoing and happy to see me whenever I showed up. I think it would be impossible in those days not to fall in love with her if you spent any amount of time together. I know I couldn`t. She had these big beautiful eyes and a Cheshire cat smile a mile wide. She was my first date too. I took her to Fosters Freeze on Brookhurst & McFadden and we shared an order of taquitos and a coke. She rode there on the handlebars of my stingray. I remember the handful of coins I scrounged for to pay for it. Much simpler times back then. I met my first real "forever"crush at her house. Her name was Pam Perriera. Much moodier but jus

I knew Vicki since she and my sister Pam were in the 3rd grade at Post Elementary. We lived in the same neighborhood, and they became best friends when we moved here from Hawaii. As the years went by, Pam would "share" Vicki with me, seeing that we both shared a great love of music and movies. We would go to the matinees on Saturday, see something, great, talk about it afterward, then go home, get all gussied up and meet Pam at Johanna`s in Costa Mesa..No matter how many years would go by, Vicki was a loyal friend that never forgot us. There was always a phone call, or a card...she LOVED her friends. When she learned she was ill, she faced it with grace and courage. I am glad that I made a trip to Whidbey Island to visit her, and so glad I got to see her in `09...Vicki will always be in Pam`s and my heart forever. - Debbie Perreira (`72)

Vicki and I met in 1967 and have remained best friends for over 40 years. Vicki valued friendship and was always the 1st one to pick up the phone and contact friends that she had made all through her life. She taught me how to love myself and to experience life to its fullest. She knew that her life was going to be cut short but continued to carry on with high spirits. One of her wishes was to vacation on a pink sand beach. She never made it but I`m sure she`s there now. I think of you everyday and I`m proud to call you my best friend. Rest easy my dear friend and know that you will never be forgotten
