I played the flute at LQ in freshman year and Mr. Honey was my teacher. What a wonderful, caring, good hearted man he was. RIP

Mr. Honey was a gentle guy but he knew when to kick you into gear when he had to. I remember as a senior after I had won superior ++ ratings in drum rudimentals and soloing; he told me in class one day to get up and play it for everybody there. I was pretty shy and told him no.I was more scared of that than playing for a judge at UCLA. Well, he got pretty insistent and I had to do it anyway. He knew how to push you. He had a few other comments about life in band and on trips too.I do not see now how someone of his age back then could put up with all those crazy teenagers...He was a good guy. God bless you Leon.

I was sadden to hear of Mr. Honey`s passing. Did like playing in the band my junior year, but was not able to be part of the band in my senior year. I sent my best wishes to his family of a great man to know.

Mr Honey was the greatest band teacher. My heart goes out to his family. Like others, I had Mr. Honey for more classes than any other teacher at LQHS. He will be missed.

Mr Honey was such a blessing to me in high school. At times music was all I had and he so encouraged me that you can always be better than you think you can be. His sweet spirit and kind nature will be missed by all who knew him. Thank you Mr. Honey for how you blessed my life all through my high school years. Paul Thompson class of 1971

Thank you for all the memories. Being in band made me feel a part of LQHS. You gave me the opportunity to try other instruments. I haven`t played in years, but everytime I hear our local marching band preform it brings back all those fond memories that you gave me. To the Honey family, thank you for sharing your Dad/Husband with all of us. He will be remembered for a very long time. Lori Talsma Class of 74 Band Treasure & Historian

He was quite a man who offered great, solid advice. The fact of his insistance on counting the scores was second to none especially given so many of the things I now do in life come from measurement and count. I am grateful he made me fill cool while playing an instrument others thought wasn`t cool. God Bless you Mr. Honey... We`ll see you again soon.

There are usually only a few teachers who truly leave an indelible impression that lasts lifetime -- Mr. Honey clearly has left that mark on me. I`ve often thought of Mr. Honey over the years -- what a remarkable and inspirational person he was to all of us who had the privilege to be under his baton; Always friendly and supportive - yet he could push the band to perform more and more complex music -- and you couldn`t even feel it! His legacy will live on in all of his students (I still play the oboe and English horn today, largely due to the positive and motivating support that he gave me during my high school years.) My deepest love and sympathy to the Honey family (several of whom were classmates) -- What an honor to have know your Dad! Class of 1978

I`m very sad to hear of Mr. Honey`s passing. I only had 3 years in Mr. Honey’s band class, but they were memorable. To March down Ward St. and down Main Street Disneyland, at Magic Mountain, and the concerts . . . Fun times. A great teacher and father. Thanks for the Memories . . . Class 78

I was deeply saddened to hear of Mr. Honey`s passing and my sincerest condolences go out to his family. Mr. Honey was our band director while I was at LQ and I had him for more classes than any other teacher. I remember his as an excellent musician and loving family man. I remember playing my first Dixieland Jazz arrangements with him playing clarinet and was tremendously impressed on how good he was on his clarinet! Thanks, Mr. Honey, for all of your hard work and dedication to your craft. I am truly saddened to hear of your passing.
