  In Memoriam

Vince you were the greatest. Always so nice and polite and smart too. You were alot of fun.I remember in Jr. high being at your crazy cousins house on Euclid when we went to Irvine, Never a dull moment over there. Than you showed up to LQ and took off breaking sports records showing on plaques all over Laquinta. You will be missed.

Vince was a great person. I only knew him when younger but you could tell he was a great person. Rest in peace.

I was on Vince`s football team at La Quinta in 1981. This was Vince`s team, for he was the star of the team. As a defensive safety, he would use his tremendous speed to close on a ball carrier and hit them like a hammer. On offense, he was the go to guy. If we needed yardage...pitch right and Vince would get that yardage. A short pass over the middle and Vince would make that catch. Vince was also a terrific baseball player and received a full scholarship to UCLA because of his baseball skills. While there, he was drafted by the Chicago White Sox and spent two years in their minor league system. He returned to UCLA and earned a degree in history. During his time at La Quinta ’78-‘82, everyone knew who he was and he was well liked. Vince Lopez died in May 2010 from a heart attack at the age of 46. Facebook pages lit-up offering condolences and disbelieving grief of his passing. I offer my condolences to his son, Jakob, fiancé, Paula, and his family and friends. Rest
