  In Memoriam

Dear O`Brian family: You might know me better as "Jill" who used to live a few doors down on Wisteria. I heard of the tragic story some time ago but didn`t know for sure if it was true. I remember Mike as being really funny in one of Mr. Hoctor`s plays and was really happy that he was involved with drama. If there is an after life, I really know he is at the top of things. I also remember a very good spaghetti sauce that Mrs. O`Brian made, but I don`t remember the occasion. I wish the best for your family and the healing for Mike`s passing... which must be ongoing even at this point. I will remember Mike because he had a real passion about in his character and was most supportive to me when I played "Aunt Polly" in a Fitz Jr.High school production. Here is My e-mail if there is any reason you would like to contact me. shockintheblock@yahoo.com

Micheal, You passed away far too young. I went to St.Barbara`s with you, Mark and Jamie, Mrs.Howell, Miss Cabon, and Sister Celia. Micheal was a tall, gentle, inteligent kid who made the long days at SB`s interesting and fun.

I also remember Mike from Saint Barbara`s (Jamie, too.....). Mike was the guy who was always questioning the teachers, and I remember Mrs. Howell praising him for his inquisitiveness. He taught me a great lesson I carry to this day.

Mike and I went to St. Barbaras school together and we were good friends till he went to LQ and I went on to Los Amigos. I think it was our sophmore year we met under the lights on the football feild before the varsity played at the stadium in Bolsa Grande. I was rushing a punt and after the play I slapped him on his helmet ear hole, and he said my name... I did not even notice him because he had grown a foot in 2 years... We had a good laugh after the game and I never saw him again. I read about his story in the OC register and cold not believe it was the same kid I grew up with! What happened Mike?

Michael John Patrick O'Brien was my first steady boyfriend. He was very tall. I am very short. We used to get comments from people about the way we looked together. Mike was a gentle giant. He wrote poetry yet he played football. He was one of the nicest people I've ever known. We broke up in high school but remained friends. He's another person I think about now
