What a sweet time we had. I still feel you around me all the time.To everyone that knew Marion, he was one of a kind. Remember how he would be telling a story, and his hands would do the talking. Those he loved, he loved with all of his heart, and his heart was big.I will miss you always, love you always. sueallen58@yahoo.com

No, not Dink Raelean Wilkes sat between Dink and I in our10th grade English class. We passed notes to each other during class. One of my fondest memories of Dink was at the Colorado River. It was a three day holiday weekend. I was blocked from entering the Sundance bar. All my friends left me at the Sundance entrance for being too young. Dink was in the parking. We found each other standing alone and wishing we were older. Before the sun set, we hitched a ride back to my campsite with a wild bunch of guys in a pick up truck. Dink promised he would protect me and pretended to be my boyfriend. So I sat with him in the back of the truck. He put his arm around me and he protected me. The drunken idiots were not friendly. I dont remember what Dink said to them, but his words worked. They respected him, and left me alone. We ended up at my campsite on the Colorado shoreline talking and walking for hours. We strolled by the water, sat down in the sand and stared at the stars. We watched

I think of Marion even to this day..He was my first boyfriend..I have many fond memories of Marion. And then I had to move to Canada, but I would really like to email or get in touch with the family and his sister regarding his death..I know it sounds wierd to think of someone for so many years as I approach 50 years of age..but I will never forget the last time I saw him,to say goodbye..I will never forget him..I wish I could have stayed and not moved, but it of course was out of my control..I now live in Sacramento and my last name is conger=email vatsierra@sierra,please contact me ..

I just discovered this website, and was very touched to read the kind words expressed by so La Quinta alumni about my cousin, Dink. Having known Dink since infancy, I could share a million heart-warming stories about our childhood: shooting desert buffalo with our bb-guns...chasing free-flight model airplanes around the old runways at Mile Square park...racing land-sailers across the parking lots at La Quinta...midnight skinny-skiing on the Colorado river...surfing trips to Mexico...and on and on. The day before he passed away, we went wind-surfing together on a lazy afternoon in Newport Harbor. He didn't live long, but he lived well. And he left behind a great many loved ones who will never forget him. Again, I appreciate all of your kind words. - John Dodd, Franklin TN

I will never forget the fun times we had together in my ninth grade year. I was completly in love with you and remember hanging out at your house with your family. While no-one knew that we were together for that short time, I will always remember you.

I have so many memories of Marion áDinká Dodd.He was one of my best friends I had while I was growing up in O.C.Calif.We went to Thomas Paine, Mc Garvin, and La Quinta H.S.together and forged a friendship that I will always remember. One of my fondest memories of Dink was when he and I went with Dave Mann and his Dad backpacking in the back country of the Sierra Nevada. A great time was had by all to say the least. From selling him the Opel Cadet (that car had the worst brakes), to being his paper boy, to a lifetime full of memories, I will sorely miss one of the best friends I was fortunate to have ever had.

I think I always had kind of a crush on Marion. He was so quiet and sweet and had a beautiful smile.

I saw Marion at a club I was singing at with I think, Mark Roberts. I was with Tammy Horsefall who was modeling at the time. We went out to the Red Onion in Seal Beach and had a blast and then partied at his house in Newport or HB, I think it was Newport. Tammy and I didn't leave until almost 3am just talking about old times. He had mentioned at that time of his headaches and he was going to see a doctor. Then 2 months later I heard he had died! I cried for a week. He was so alive and so so much fun. We talked about how his cousin Tom Dodd use to always borrow paper from me and always promised to pay it back, but never did. lol...But the way I figure is God needed his humor and sense of fairness for something more important than what he was doing then. Rest in peace áDinká...I will always love you....and miss u...

Marion was quite a wild, crazy boy. We were neighbors and we knew the entire family. We would call Marion Dinky because he was small for his age. He didn't like it much but he had a great sense of humor. All the kids in the neighborhood knew the Dodd family. I didn't realize he had passed away (from a brain aneryesum) until much later when I found out he was buried at the same cemetary as my mother. He was quite a kid and I think of him and his family often. I have lost touch with George, Mike and Jackie Dodd. I will never forget the fun we had on our bikes during our wonderful summers.
